“We begin where we are and how we are, and whatever happens, happens.”

(T.K.V. Desikachar)

I began with theatre. It wasn't until much later that I discovered yoga, and when I did, it completely changed the way I'd imagined my life. I had always been mad about theatre, acting in particular. I studied hard and wound up with a BA in Drama and an MA in Theatre for Young Audiences. Then came the touring.

Yoga started as a way that I could exercise on tour. I only needed my mat (and I didn't even need that), I didn't have to rely on the English weather and it was something I could do on my own. The more I practised, the more I craved. I started reading articles on yoga and following yogis on social media. I made a real effort to get to as many classes as I could, which isn't so easy when you're constantly on the move, but certainly not impossible!

My yoga practice had become the most important part of my day, and it was only natural that I started wondering if it was time to take it a step further. So I started looking for a short yoga retreat in Europe. This quickly escalated to looking at a yoga teacher training (YTT) in Costa Rica... I thought why not?

So I did it! I went to Costa Rica and completed my YTT, learning more about yoga and myself than I had dared to imagine. I am so incredibly lucky to have the support of my amazing family and friends, and everyday I feel truly blessed to have discovered yoga.

As with any yoga story, mine is to be continued...
